My Pond Ponderings

This post begins my recollections and notes on ponds, mostly relating to my little pond. First, let me describe my little oasis. It is a fish and lily pond that is about three feet deep and has a surface area of 4 feet by 6 feet. The pond has four goldfish (three shebunkins and a fantail), three green frogs, many toad tadpoles, several bullfrog tadpoles, two water lilys, a lotus plant, and other various emergents and marginals that I will discuss in future blogs. There is a small marsh area to the west that is lined to hold in the water that overflows from the pond. It is planted with bog plants including water forget-me-nots, monkey flower, arrow arum and chameleon plant. There are also coral bells, sedum, and other perrenials.
